Process Metrics

Process metrics measure how the learner moved through the AI-enabled encounter. In AlloPatient, this mainly includes Safe AI Use, Efficiency, and Calibration.

These metrics ask whether the learner reviewed the chart, asked relevant patient questions, used AI appropriately, avoided unsafe prompts, corrected AI errors, revised documentation responsibly, and accurately judged their own performance.

Examples include appropriate clinical AI use, avoiding inappropriate AI use, protecting privacy, reviewing chart information, verifying AI-generated content, correcting seeded AI errors, handling safety-review flags, limiting irrelevant questions, and calibrating confidence to actual performance.

These measures matter because the same final note can come from very different behaviors. AlloPatient evaluates whether the learner used AI as a clinical support tool rather than a shortcut around clinical reasoning.
